Community Impact

United Way of Regina remains committed to its role as one of the most significant providers of core funding to community-based human service organizations in the City of Regina. We recognize the critical importance that we play in providing a consistent and reliable stream of funding that supports the programming and services our community needs.

However, we understand that the challenges surrounding the issues that matter most to us require more than core funding.

In addition to core funding through the Community Fund, our Tomorrow Fund allows us to test new and innovative approaches to chronic social challenges. We are also committed to strengthening the capacity of our Funded Partners and other community-based organizations to meet these challenges by providing timely and relevant training and resources.

Our leadership role at key community tables enables us to identify opportunities for collaborative approaches and effective application of resources.

Finally, through both our existing and new relationships across all sectors we are able to mobilize the human, financial and in-kind resources required to address this community’s priorities of:

  • Early Life– ensuring all children are ready to learn when they enter school and grow into thriving, resilient youth who become contributing citizens.
  • Education – ensuring all children are engaged and supported in positive learning environments, and supporting all students to finish high school.
  • Income – supporting all community members to work towards financial stability and independence
  • Social Inclusion – ensuring basic needs are met so that all citizens can become engaged and connected with their community.

United Way of Regina also knows that as we focus our energy on these priorities, we must ensure the availability of crisis services, especially for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

We understand that all of these challenges in our community are complex. We know that real solutions to these issues demand an integrated and strategic approach.

That approach can summed up in two words: community impact.

Community impact is about getting the community to work together on the issues that matter most to us. It’s about creating community wide plans of action that will address these issues in a meaningful and long term way. It means having a reliable funder supporting the organizations involved and giving them the support and tools they need to create real change.

We know real solutions are possible by putting community impact into action. We know it will take time, commitment and leadership. We know we must work together in partnership with each other. That’s what community impact is all about - working together to create real solutions.

That’s what your United Way is about. We bring the community together into partnerships that create the ideas and plans that can address our community’s most pressing challenges and help provide the tools and support necessary to put those plans into action.
