Brighter futures are built one child at a time, one book at a time, one hour of reading at a time, by volunteers like you!

We are extraordinarily thankful for the time our volunteers shared with us last Friday on our United Way Dr. Seuss Reading Day. We know the children loved the time they spent with them sharing the magic of reading and opening the world of possibilities that literacy offers.

United Way’s Dr. Seuss Reading Day is intended to promote the importance of child literacy and the role our community and volunteers play in helping our children achieve success in school and in life.

Literacy is perhaps the most powerful gift you can give to a child’s future. We know that children who read with competence and confidence at grade level have a far greater chance of success in their academic future. In particular, we know that Grade 3 reading is critical as this is when children transition from learning to read to using reading to learn .

Over the next five years, United Way Regina will place a priority on investing in the Focus Area of All That Kids Can Be.  This investment will allow us to support specific programs and initiatives that improve educational outcomes for Regina’s children and lead to an improved quality of life.

Over the next five years, we will launch multiple strategies and initiatives focused on the target outcome: improving educational outcomes for Regina’s children. Read more . . .
