Day of Caring®

15th Annual Day of Caring® Week
June 4 - 8, 2012

Day of Caring® Week is one of Regina's largest annual volunteer events. First launched in 1995, its success and popularity has turned the once day long event into a week long affair that attracts hundreds of volunteers every year.

Day of Caring® Week is an opportunity to build and strengthen relationships to create real and positive change in our community.

Get Your Non Profit Agency Involved

Day of Caring® is about building relationships and making a meaningful difference to non-profit agencies and those that they serve in our community.

It is an opportunity to showcase your agency and educate participants about the issues faced by those that you serve.

Any community based organization that has charitable or non profit status can register one or more projects. Volunteer teams are generally looking for opportunities that are fun, require little or no costs and are something different from their everyday activity.

Teams range in size from two to one hundred; and bring with them a different combination of expertise and resources. Projects that provide a clear, detailed project description and allow for teams to be able to see themselves involved are usually the first to be chosen.

Registration for non-profit organizations begins January 16th and runs until February 29th.

After your agency is registered you will have until April 5th to develop and submit your projects for matching.

This two step process allows volunteer teams additional time to plan and provides the Day of Caring® team the opportunity to engage additional volunteers or project hosts if required. Priority for project matching will be given to those who have registered by the above deadlines.

Volunteer teams will receive the project catalogue on May 1st and final project matches will be confirmed on May 7th at which time you can start planning directly with your volunteers.

How to Build a Volunteer Team

Day of Caring® Week is about more than just hammers, nails and paint brushes: it's about building relationships and building our community — something that benefits all of us.

Individual volunteers have the opportunity to learn about the important work of community-based organizations, the value of their work and why it makes such a significant difference in our community. In turn, volunteers have the chance to make their own contribution to that work, and many have sought out roles with the host organization long after the week has come and gone.

Employers who encourage their employees to participate discover that supporting their employees who take on a leadership role in their community increases the visibility of the business, strengthens employee morale and increases the pride all employees have in the company they work for.

Register your workplace now to receive the Day of Caring project catalogue.

Organizations and businesses who complete their registration by March 30th will receive priority when matching with available projects.

Although we will accept late registrations for both volunteer teams and project matches, workplaces registered by March 30th and project selections received by May 1st will receive priority.

We recommend registering your team even if you are not 100% certain that you will be selecting a project; registering your workplaces does not commit you to selecting a project, but it will provide us with information to assist us with project recruitment if required, and your workplace will be given priority over those that are unregistered when we complete and confirm the project matches.

Project catalogue will be emailed to registered workplaces by April 16th.

Volunteer teams will have until May 1, 2012 to submit their top three project choices, and will be notified of matches by May 7, 2012, allowing for almost one month to coordinate and plan in partnership with the project host agency.
